What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. runs like crap 
2. win 8 
3. ver 1.1.3 

1. why is this so slow ? 
2. the cursor disappears 
3. response time is horrible on machines using 1000MB ethernet

This report is nonsense. There can have been some circumstances (likely 
temporary) on your machine that cause(d) this behaviour but I've seen mintty 
work seemlessly on Windows 8.

Suggest to close (as invalid).
