I like it when people do this kind of stuff.

dariusk commented 10 years ago

Me too :)

elib commented 10 years ago

ok according to extremely inaccurate estimates my novel will be done in 5 days.

catseye commented 10 years ago

@elib I would be much impressed if you mean that the coding is already finished, and you're talking about 5 days of processor time remaining before the output is produced... :)

elib commented 10 years ago

Well not exclusively processor time. But the latter more accurately describes the situation.

working 1

catseye commented 10 years ago

Impressive enough!

elib commented 10 years ago

Thanks @catseye! working 2

ps. this cannot possibly live up to the hype .....

elib commented 10 years ago

37%. I don't want to post snapshots of my novel because it will give away everything. It's a rather simple premise.

elib commented 10 years ago

40,000 words

elib commented 10 years ago

44,000 ... the home stretch???

@dariusk please label this as "in progress"?

dariusk commented 10 years ago

Labeled!

It started as a twitter bot that also just seemed to work for Darius's challenge. I'm pretty pleased with how it came out. Obviously I did a little curation for what the final generation was.

Thanks! This was fun.

EDIT: this novel clocks in at over 53K. I could have stopped it sooner, but I was at work. It's still going, of course.

dariusk commented 10 years ago

AMAZING, congratulations!!!

MichaelPaulukonis commented 10 years ago

Way? No way!

I'm also intrigued by your novelizifier.

elib commented 10 years ago

Thanks, @MichaelPaulukonis, I think??? Please use whatever you find, however you please. My Code Is Rather Messy, however. And quite unRubyful.

MichaelPaulukonis commented 10 years ago

@elib well, I plan to make it into Rather Messy unJavascripty Javascript, so no worries..... (and possible C# at some point).

catseye commented 10 years ago

"The way that author writes is just incredible." :)

jiko commented 10 years ago

Way cool. Reminds me of the Tao Te Ching, especially it's first line: "The Way cannot be told", or "The Way that can be spoken of is not the eternal Way," ad infinitum. There are way too many translations of that first line.

Great concept, well executed. :100:

elib commented 10 years ago

@catseye haha there are a few gems in there. I also thought the closing phrase was poignant. @jiko ooooooooh thank you!

ghost commented 10 years ago

Very nice! This hangs together really well, and gets pretty emotional at times.
