1 month ago Thanks for asking. It's not too great. He's about to turn 2, he's hypoplastic left heart. So, the left side of his heart didn't form. His original life expectancy was 10 days without surgery.
The first 2 surgeries went well. He needs another, but his heart performance hasn't improved enough for it. Right now he's in heart failure and he may have to go on the transplant list.
But in better news, I got a promotion to director of DevOps at my company so money is no problem at all. Just trying to hold things together and spend time with him. He started potty training last week!
The last year and a half was rough. First Ollie was born, but needed the surgeries, then my dad died out of the blue from a heart attack at 52 and I ended the year off with my 16 yr old Shiba's doggy dementia worsening into a 2 month long panic episode so I had to have him put down.
But this year has been better ... Kind of. My mom was hospitalized with dual pulmonary embolisms last month. She's getting better.
I tell you what, my wife is amazing and has held me together through everything though. Tomorrow is our 14 year anniversary, and I'm looking forward to taking her out. And my daughter has been awesome through everything too. She's 10, and is the most loving thing you could imagine.
