[Bug] Settings sync seems broken #10246

Bug Report

Bug Description

I tried turning on settings sync to sync settings from an old computer to a new one, and it didn't work. What happened was I turned it on on the first computer, then the second one, and then I noticed DarkReader looked like this on each device.

It appears broken. I couldn't figure out how to make it go back. I quit both browsers and reopened them, and it reverted to normal with the sync setting turned back off.

Steps To Reproduce

  1. Turn on settings sync
  2. Refresh a website page
  3. Open dark reader settings and observe it is broken

Expected Behavior

Settings start syncing

Actual Behavior

Settings do not sync, and the extension breaks until you restart the browser

Hi @tinder-tannerbennett,

Could you got to chrome://extensions/ and enable in the top-right the "Developer mode"? Does it show an error tab by the Dark Reader card: image

Same issue here.

macOS Ventura Firefox 106.0.3

It is synced with system theme and it does work when it gets light but not when getting dark.

Under Ubuntu 22.04 and FF 106.0.3 it works flawlessly.
