OpenEmu Mupen64plus Issue #657

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
Describe your system:
 - Operating System (be specific): Mac OS X
- Machine type (32-bit or 64-bit):
- Mupen64Plus version:
- Plugins used:

For visual artifacts, give:
 - game name and CRC/MD5 hash (printed on console) Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
- description of the artifact (missing polygons, flashing, wrong colors,
etc)

Describe the problem: I was playing the Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, and
everything was running smoothly until I got to the bottom of the well and got
the lens of truth. Everything that was supposed to disappear after looking into
the mirror did not, and vice versa for disappearing objects when looking
through a mirror. i'm using OpenEmu to play this game, and it uses Mupen64plus.
I suspect that a plugin may be missing for either OpenEmu or Mupen64plus in
order for the game to function properly, and the Lens of Truth to actually
work. Can someone please help me with this issue? Is there a way I can find the
right plugin and insert it into OpenEmu? Or will I just have to use Mupen64plus
alone and insert the plugin? PLEASE HELP!!!

Please provide any additional information below.

OpenEmu's N64 core is still very early in construction. There's no way to
easily add plugins to it, as they're baked into the program.

I suggest trying RetroArch. It also uses Mupen64Plus for N64, but it's far more
developed than OpenEmu's implementation. It's not perfect, but no N64 emulator
is.

Yeah I was thinking about using something other then OpenEmu to finish Ocarina
of Time anyway. But do you know if RetroArch is capable to perform on a mac?
And will the Lens of Truth actually work if I played the game on that instead?

It works just fine on my 2009 Macbook. Just make sure to use Glide64. You can
change plugins under Core Options.

Darkmast, you were right about Retroarch working on the mac. However, now I
have two issues with it:
1) Whenever I load the emulator, it drops so many frames to the point in which
the game is incredibly slow.
2) Sometimes when i run the emulator, it crashes right away.
Do you have any suggestions as to how to fix these problems?
