How do shortcuts work for hyperlinks? #306

Hello I know that I can configure shortcuts for the browsers in the options page of the addon on Firefox.

When I press the shortcut on This plane could cross the Atlantic in 3.5 hours. Why did it fail? - YouTube, the link opens in the browser.

But do I always have to open the link first in a webpage to use the shortcut? Can I use shortcut on a hyperlink to open in another browser?
