reset phone htc thunderbolt ics 4.01 still same message cannot find GPS

I have the same problem and suspect it is related to a recent upgrade of My
Tracks. Now it always reports no GPS, even if I force it off an on. With Maps
it perfectly identifies the GPS and also on other aplications.

Any news on this?
I am using MyTracks version 2.0.3, on Android 2.3.6, running on a Samsung
Galaxy Ace Plus. This was working on a previous version of MyTracks.
Have tried to uninstall and install again but still no solution.
Other application like Maps or Ndrive have no problem with GPS.
Regards

Anyone still experiencing this with My Tracks version 2.0.4. If so, please let
me know which device you are using and which Android version it is running on.
Thanks

Motorola XT535 android version 2.3.7
Nothing wrong was with previous versions. But new version cannot connect to
GPS. Can another program installed later (Sygic for example) affect on
connection?

I was able to borrow a Verizon HTC Thunderbolt and cannot reproduce this bug.
The phone is running Android version 2.3.4 with My Tracks 2.0.4.
Andrey, can you confirm that My Tracks version 2.0.3 work for you, but version
2.0.4 doesn't.
You can find all the My Tracks versions at:
https://code.google.com/p/mytracks/downloads/list?can=1
Thanks

Surprise. I tested version 2.0.2 and 2.0.3. Everywhere the exact same error -
"Waiting for GPS signal" and GPS signal not available/ Current location cannot
be determined. An approximate location based....
I used the program since the beginning of the year and have had no problems.
I have tested maygeos and GPS status - all works.

Hi Andrey:
When you said "I used the program since the beginning of the year and have had
no problems.", do you remember which version?
Have you tried rebooting your phone?
If you don't mind, can you reset all your settings to the default values,
Settings->Backup & reset

I'm having the same problem. Samsung Galaxy S3, Android 4.1.2, My Tracks 2.0.4.
GPS works fine in other apps, but have waited multiple times for 30+ minutes
and always get "Waiting for GPS Signal." message. I have rebooted phone and
uninstalled/reinstalled My Tracks, but still will not GPS Signal.

In version 2.0.5, we upgraded the recording code to use the new location
provider. Please refile a new bug if there are still gps issue with the new
location provider.
For comment #17, you need to update the map api key to your own key if you are
building from source.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 LTE (Skyrocket) and I was experiencing the same
issue where My Tracks would not start GPS services while Google Maps worked
fine and used GPS.
I cleared the cache by going to Settings>Applications>My Tracks and selected
the Clear Cache button then uninstalled the app. After that I went to the
Google Play store and downloaded and installed the My Tracks app.
Everything seems to be working fine now.

I was having the same problem on my Galaxy S3 phone, and came upon this thread.
I had version 2.0.4 installed. After reading this, I removed 2.0.4, installed
2.0.5 from Google Play, cleared the data, started 2.0.5, signed into it, and it
works fine now. Thanks!

Verizon Galaxy S4
Android 4.3
My Track 2.0.5
"Waiting for GPS signal." after starting MT Tracks recording.
No GPS icon in status bar.
GPS service is ON.
Other apps (Google Maps/Mapquest/GPS Essentials/GPS Test/GPS Status) initiate
and use GPS OK. My Tracks is the only app that fails to utilized GPS.
Problem appeared after updating to Android 4.3. Prior to that had been using My
Tracks successfully for several months. Have made no other changes to the phone
software/hardware.
