Stops recording randomly - not completed a track since install #1265

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Try to record a track.
2.
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I expect to see my full journey recorded, instead recording stops at random
points, though the widget clock is still working. I push the stop button when I
finish my trip but on looking at the map find recording has stopped at some
point in the past.

What version of MyTracks are you using? On what version of Android? On what
phone?
V 2.0.4, Android 4.0.3, HTC One V.

If possible please provide a log by uploading here.
Detailed instructions can be found here:
http://code.google.com/p/mytracks/wiki/HowToReportErrors

Please provide any additional information here:
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app but the issue still remains.
I had and used the app on my previous phone with no problems but have been
unable to make this version work on this phone.

Do you mean that My Tracks has stopped recording (no My Tracks icon on the
notification bar) or that My Tracks is still running, but no gps points are
recorded?

Thanks

Same issues using Galaxy S4 with your latest version.

I had an email from you saying 'to comment reply to this email' but when I
attempted to reply to the email it was bounced back saying the address was not
valid!
My issue is that MyTracks just STOPS. It turns itself off as if I had completed
a journey and stopped the tracking myself, but I have not. This happens at
seemingly random times on the journey.
I still have only one successfully recorded track.

same here, Hero 4g lte, aggravating. I'm usually bringing the app up repeatedly
on the go. I was blaming auto-rotate, lag, and the absurdly over-sized stop
button, but it seems to be happening too often for even that. I could really go
for a "are you sure you want to stop recording?" prompt.

I also have the same issue. Did a bike ride yesterday, got half the ride
tracked after that it has gaps of segments that pop up. My tracks never turned
off, it was always running the background. It just stops randomly tracking even
though its running.

I also have a Samsung GS4

Attached is the gpx file from the ride.

Looking at the gpx file from comment #6, there are large time gaps in the
recorded gps samples. In the next release, we have changed the underlying
location provider and hope this issue will be fixed.

Having the same issue on my old nexus1 when biking. Mytracks version 2.0.5.
Starts fine, then part of the way round stops recording points. My tracks is
still running and recording the time, but no location information. Was working
perfectly prior to latest update.
Thanks.

For #9, can you refile a new bug with as much details as possible.

Going to close this bug since it dealt wit the old location provider before
version 2.0.5.
