4x1 widget not working #1271

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
This issue is the same as issue 1203, which was closed with "Fixed" status but
unfortunately I upgraded MyTracks version (2.0.4) and the problem remains the
same.
I also tried to uninstall and install again a clean version - with no effect.

The issue description:
When resizing the MyTracks widget to 4x1 size, instead of showing only 2 data
items ("moving time", "total time" etc.) it still tries to show 4 items. (I
think it tries to load the 4x2 widget just with the smaller space)
This causes the items' titles to overlap the contents of the items and the
start/stop buttons - unusable behavior.
A screenshot is attached.

I am using Galaxy S3 with Android 4.1.2 (Samsung stock Rom)

Am I supposed to get a dialog to choose the 2 data items after resizing to 1x4?
(or it automatically supposed to assume I want the first 2 items?)
When adding the widget it comes only as 2x4 which let me choose 4 items. Then I
resize and get the state as in the screenshot.
At no time do I get a dialog for only 2 items as I understand should be for 1x4
widget.

Thanks

In a 4x1 widget, it picks the first two. No new dialog.

If you resize the widget back to 4x2 and then resize it back to 4x1, do you
still see the same error?

I am running 4.1.1 on my G S3 and have the same problem. I tried resizing the
widget in every different manner but when I put it back to 4x1 it
unsuccessfully tries to fit all four fields up top. While resizing it will
sometimes flicker between two fields and four fields, but when released it goes
bag to the four fields. I reinstalled with no effect. Sometimes after rebooting
my phone the widget will appear correctly but after a minute or so it reverts
back the the bugged version.

After investigation, Galaxy S3 has its own implementation of the home screen
launcher. In its implementation, it is not invoking the
onAppWidgetOptionsChanged callback on the widget whenever the user changes the
screen size.

This can only be fixed by Samsung.

Bummer..
Could you contact Samsung explaining this so that they can fix it?

Thanks

The android team has added several tests to its Compatibility Test Suite.

http://source.android.com/compatibility/cts-intro.html

So hopefully all manufacturers who implement their own home screen launcher
would notice this issue.

This issue is still present on the Nexus 5, Android 5.0.1. Resizing does the
trick, HOWEVER, after that, buttons don't react to any clicking. I'm unable to
record or stop using the widget.
