Fixes some compilation issues. #9

This pull request cleans up the Makefile and example clients. There were several issues including:

Mixed library types generated -> now all depend on the platform dependent LIBTYPE
Name collision on different application args in example client

These all look like great improvements. There are some hard-coded "aterrel" paths so it would be good to update the README with install setup instructions so people know what to edit and how to make the build work.

I'm fine with you merging this however - I had to do local mods for the prior version too so this is in no way a step back.

Okay I fixed the hard coded paths (at least on *nix systems). Since @gvidaver seems to be adding windows stuff I'll let him propose a fix. Also if @JeffBezanson has a better way of getting Julia's CFLAGS or LDFLAGS that would be wonderful.
