ENH: find better method for scaling heatmap colorbar #657

When working on the DXT heatmap Tyler suggested that we find a way to scale the heatmap colorbar such that a single order of magnitude has a noticeable change in color.

This started off as a mess because I used the "task" -> "issue" feature, but apparently all that does is creates a new issue where the task is the title, which is not at all what I was expecting.

Anyways, I think it might be good to define what values are best to resolve for this issue. For example, it seems to me that having noticeable differences between KiB/s, MiB/s and GiB/s would be good, but those are ~3 orders of magnitude apart.
