When the network is down, the new project dialog can't be cancelled #65

When the network is down (or perhaps when it's just really slow), the new project dialog will try to run stagehand and get stuck (see attached image). The dialog cannot be closed because of "an active operation". The only recourse appears to be to force Editor to quit.

Is this a regression? Can we punt to 1.11?

Removed this from the 1.10 milestone. Removed Priority-High label. Added Priority-Medium label.
