Week 1 Sprint Retrospective

• what worked well

  • We found snarkyjs which is a Typescript library for zero knowledge based smart contracts that we can potentially use in our project.

• what didn't

  • We've failed to get some of the relevant github repos running in our machines.
  • zk-vote: deprecated after Ropsten merge.
  • zkdocs: doesn't work. not sure why.
  • 

• self assessment on progress

  • Because we failed to get some of the github repos running in our machines, we are starting to feel a little uncomfortable with zk.
  • snarkyjs seems promising, so we are planning to spend the week trying to wrap our head around it.
  • We agreed to meet on Friday and decide if we want to go with zero knowledge or pivot to a simpler blockchain project.

• lay out each of the following weeks till end of term with brief goals for each

  • current week: Read zksnarks documentation, see if zk is something achievable, and pivot if necessary by Friday
  • Next week: divide into backend and front end team. Front end team make basic UI.

• briefly summarize any other topics/discussions

  • a possible alternative we have now is a recurrent payment system (set up regular crypto payment for subscriptions, etc).
