what does success for this class mean to you?

Success in this class means having learned about the ins and outs of game development. I would like to see a finished product that we can put on a platform like Steam that the whole team is proud of. It would be extremely cool to show friends and family the game in an easy manner. Hosting on my local machine is very limiting in who can play and see the finished product. If we can accomplish that goal, then I feel this class would have been the true culmination of all the CS classes I took previously including physics, animations, computer graphics, ect.

Challenges

what are some challenges you foresee?

In the near future, I foresee implementing the teams with different player models may be difficult. The way we have the game set up, players can randomly join whenever. There is no dedicated player connect screen. This makes assigning balanced teams difficult. We may have to revise this functionality to get it to work as intended. I also foresee figuring out if we want to move to a LAN multiplayer game instead of local co-op will be a big challenge. Moving to LAN will give us much more freedom, but presenting at Technigala will be more difficult and we would have to rework many features.

Hi Avi, Great thoughts. I especially agree with putting it on a platform like Steam. You might consider looking into the process for that if you insist on it being there by the end of term since I have heard the process can take a few weeks. But talk to Tim about that!
