@Ageotas thank you so much for your comments! These are great points.
What demographic info would you add? We can certainly add age. Any other ideas?
Age in brackets; the ABS has a great guide with rationale for best practices in demographic data collection http://www.abs.gov.au/ausstats/abs@.nsf/Lookup/1200.0.55.006main+features62014,%20Version%201.7
Country of residence could be useful, though it could be argued that "Country where you attained your graduate degree" might be more illuminating?
Gender might prove interesting insights too, though it would be advised to ensure that non-binary option(s) are considered/available - avoid using the word "other" in this context.
In relation to the earlier question on pre/post-publication, it could be advantageous to include another check-box list to see which open e-prints people are using; this will give you correlations with specific fields of research.
@Ageotas this is fantastic feedback, thank you so much!
@amiefairs Do you think we should add a more personal (optional) demographics section at the end?
In field of research, would be good to add "Astronomy/Astrophysics/Space Sciences" as this field doesn't quite fit in a single other category, and has a very strong culture of pre/post-publication on arxiv
Survey starts with "current researcher status" but doesn't account for researchers who are either no longer active or abstaining for other reasons.
Lacking demographic information; maybe add this as an optional final section so as to allow people to opt-out. I strongly feel that there are going to be noticeable biases in for and against attitudes between demographics, especially age and country.
