New Dask swag contest - need feedback #256

Hi,

We wanted to create new SWAG for our new logo and we wanted to make it fun. But maybe it was too fun. We launched a little contest here https://app.viralsweep.com/contest/full/f952da-112528?framed=1 where everyone can vote for some existing SWAG designs and/or add their own. When we launched it last week I realized the voting process was too cumbersome and required an email so we simplified it today - no emails are needed. Just vote

The SWAG we have designed for NUMFOCUS is already selling here https://numfocus.myspreadshop.com/all

But we were hoping to get more creative and get more designs.

Thoughts?

Thanks @AdiReske. Just to clarify, what is the ask for folks here? Is it a second call for designs / votes with the simplified, no email required, voting process? If so, is there a new link folks should navigate to?

Thank you @jrbourbeau I'm still new to Github. The ask is a second call for votes and/or designs. The link is the same link as before. I just simplified it in the back end so if folks have clicked on it before and were put off by the email request, that requirement is gone now. I hope that makes more sense.

I'm wondering if perhaps the "DIY design" approach is not intuitive enough for folks who are not used to creating visual material. It requires downloading a folder of files, being comfortable using something like Photoshop or Illustrator, etc.

I wonder if we can make the design submission process easier by creating a drag-and-drop type interface where folks can easily upload icons/images that will automatically get visualised on a swag item (mug/hat/shirt) and then input text that will automatically get rendered in the Dask font...

I think you're right. We chose a limited contest tool. But folks can send a pic of their illustration on a piece of paper and I'll get our designer to render it professionally. Would that be helpful? I want to make this SWAG as fun as possible for our community
