It would be nice to get https://github.com/dask/distributed/pull/7593 merged. Just needs a review, the changes are rather minimal but the impact could be large for some users

@crusaderky I see you had been reviewing https://github.com/dask/distributed/pull/7593 -- do you have bandwidth for taking a final look?

@jrbourbeau I did it, but there's one line that makes me uncomfortable pushing the PR into the release at the last moment. @fjetter is right in saying that the PR is probably very high impact - maybe we can put it in without the line?

No worries @crusaderky -- thanks for doing another round of review. Let's just hold off on that PR for now and include it in the next release 👍

FYI to folks, I'm going to start pushing out the release in the next hour or so

2023.3.1 is out on PyPI and conda-forge PRs are open:
