Confusion about what dat is and does is constant. We need standard words, phrases, sentences, and paragraphs to explain and describe dat, so that we have a vocabulary to rely on. Such as:
a ~5-word description of dat
a single-sentence description of dat
a paragraph-long description of dat
a 1–3-sentence explanation of why Git is inadequate for the task
a paragraph-long description of the problem that dat solves
It may be important to have more- and less-technical versions, though I think the latter is more important. Phrases like "data pipeline" and "streaming interface" are informative for experts in data transformations, but serve as a barrier for a huge chunk of the potential population. Descriptions will need to explain both the local functionality (storing and versioning data) and the networked functionality (cloning, pushing, pulling, etc.)
