looking forward to join this call! i could talk a bit about hyperwell—a system for P2P annotation built upon hypermerge/hyperswarm—if folks are interested in that.

dpaez commented 4 years ago

@falafeljan oh yeah, we will we more than happy to learn more about hyperwell. Cool!

It'd be cool to talk about this. https://github.com/datprotocol/DEPs/issues/66

Getting dat:// registered with IANA so that we can get protocol handlers registered in chromium.

We need someone in the community to take the lead on this, I think

Thanks for noting this here @RangerMauve! I was just about to ask you and @okdistribute on Twitter about this!

Likely one or both of @lidel and myself can join to provide context if that would help.

A lot of background is available in the initial project proposal: https://github.com/ipfs/devgrants/blob/master/targeted-grants/protocol-handler-api-for-browser-extensions.md. This work has now kicked off.

The question is about whether y'all would like to do this, or if it's ok for Igalia to register it on your behalf as part of this project.

There is not a specific time limit on this ask. If we don’t hear a clear yes or no, then we can land the patch without dat:// support, and any interested folks can work to get support added later. There will be a clear path to follow at that point I hope :) But it'd be great if we can land it all together!

Hey, thank you both @RangerMauve and @autonome for mentioning this here! and absolutely, it will be super interesting to talk about this in the upcoming comm-comm meeting. In that sense, @autonome or @lidel you are more than welcome to join tomorrow and tell us more about the status and details.
