In the downloadable data package ( https://ndownloader.figshare.com/articles/2009586/versions/10) referenced in the data section of the setup page (https://github.com/datacarpentry/geospatial-workshop/blob/gh-pages/setup.md#dat) standardized geospatial metadata should be included with the files. This is a best practice for geospatial (and really all shared data), and it is good to model this in our materials. The appropriate standard for the metadata would be ISO-19115-1.
