Problem description, and links to relevant helpdesk tickets:
The search field in the ""Explore data"" page of the website is limited
Curators do so much work to make the metadata rich but that work isn't providing us with returns because the site isn't searchable; can be demotivating
Discoverability is limited = reuse less likely
This could impact our ""sell"" to members because this piece is critical
Describe the solution you'd like:
[x] Provide more robust search options on Dryad site, include additional filters
[x] Remove the map, not collecting this data anymore
[ ] Offer search option by date, sort option, sort by most recent date by default
[ ] Clean-up: remove ISSNs as titles, etc. (see #3601)
Additional context:
Incorporate more Boolean search options on all search categories/pages, offer multiple fields for more specific results, download/export results, search/sort by date, total # of results, author search, etc.
Our search function on the "Explore data" page should be optimized if we want to promote discoverability within our platform

I (Audrey) have discussed improving search and discoverability with Jen as something that I think would be valuable, however currently the vast majority of visits to Dryad data do not use Dryad search to get there—they come mainly directly from linked outputs (articles) and then from other search engines, so it would have to be a multifaceted approach to both improve search AND encourage use of Dryad for search at all
