Prepare v1.0.0 release #247

The main goal is to have a version with a more mature feature set that can be ported seamlessly into datalad- and metalad-based workflows leading to catalog generation and management.

Key new features/enhancements to be populated.

V1 has been released a while back. This issue can be closed.
