Does BasicTeX suffice for our workflow? #6

It's infinitesimally smaller than the full TeX Live distro. http://www.tug.org/mactex/morepackages.html

Note to self: To get command line utilities with BasicTeX, you need to add the appropriate dir to your PATH: /Library/TeX/texbin.
