For tweasel, I've been doing a lot of legal research into IDs and other tracking data as personal data under the GDPR (https://github.com/tweaselORG/meta/issues/40, https://github.com/tweaselORG/meta/issues/35, https://github.com/tweaselORG/meta/issues/38). This ended up being a huge rabbit hole and not writing down my findings for everyone else felt like a waste. So here we go: Probably the most comprehensive article on this topic there is. Ended up quite long, go figure.
Anyone who only wants an overview of the sources I considered and their positions on the matter, can have a look at https://github.com/tweaselORG/meta/issues/40#issuecomment-1794727606.
The PR also contains some footnote-related changes that were necessary for the article to render properly.
