Feat : add support for Linux kernels 6.x #381

With the release of Ubuntu 24.04 LTS, which comes with linux 6.5, and with more modern hardware getting on the market there is a need for datto to have support for the 6.x kernels. I am currently in said boat, using Ubuntu 24.04 on my framework 16 laptop, which needs 6.x kernels for the best performance. however my boss has demanded i use datto so they can be certified to follow security rules.

i was looking around and in #349 was said that support was coming soon. then i found #363 which adds support for kernel 6.6 and below.

is there any reason this hasn't been merged yet, and why a new version hasn't been released yet?

Hi! Thanks for being interested in our product. We are right now working on bugs in our kernel module. We have a plan to support Ubuntu 24.04 LTS, and we will start to support it soon. Stay tuned!

Hi! thanks for the reply! do you have an eta i could pass on to my it department ? :) i will be keeping an eye on this so i can install it as soon as i can, and hopefully help with a small adjustment so that the install script can also check/get the ubuntu version for distributions that are ubuntu based (linux mint). but ubuntu 24.04/linux kernel 6.x support would first need to be there ^^

We will start to support it in Q3/Q4.
