After talking with @TrentWalton, here's what we've decide to do with FitText:

Strip out max-font-size as it's causing confusion.
Simplify FitText to be just ratio-based resizing with the compressor (this is probably more true to the spirit of RWD).
Create extendable options for both min & max font-size (which don't exist in CSS, but would be cool if they did).

Will be working on that soonish. I'll also look at resizing based on height although this may just exist in a branch.
