Weird missing characters #8

In the Hebrew of Deut 6:4 I have a missing ayin and a dalet (on the first and last words respectively).

Looking at http://tanach.us/Tanach.xml I see this sort of thing which is unusual:

I just rediscovered this issue but in my BHS the characters are also strangely enlarged (we have probably stripped them out accidentally as in previous comment). Now I want to know why they're enlarged (the BHS also has a weird samech and masorah looking note on the right side of a left facing page so something weird is happening here).
