I think we're getting pretty close to releasable, so it's probably time to think about what should be on the About page.

davemacdo commented 6 years ago

Rob, could you write a couple paragraphs or something for an About page and send it to me in some form? It could be a Google Doc or an email or whatever. Once it's up, you can send Issues to edit, or if you want to really get nerdy, you can clone the repo and send me a Pull Request! Instant software engineer street cred.

Maybe we can have a link list of resources at some point?

robdeemer commented 6 years ago

Workin' on that this very minute.

How do I do that? (clone…repo…Pull Request…not sure what these mean :) )

robdeemer commented 6 years ago

I'm assuming you would be…Designer? What's an appropriate title for me on this? Director? Creator?

davemacdo commented 6 years ago

Developer and designer, I suppose.

For this one, you can just send me the copy in an email or a Google Doc. Cloning the repo and sending a PR is a little more involved. Let's see if it's something you end up wanting to do more than once every couple months.

Short version: cloning is what it sounds like. You make a copy of the whole code repository on your computer using a program called Git, which is like a superpowered version of "Track Changes" in your favorite document editor. Once cloned, you can edit it, and submit your edits back to the main repository. This is a "Pull Request", as you're requesting me (the repo owner) to pull your changes into the master version of the repository. You'd only need to touch the one file that has the About page.

It sounds complicated, and honestly, it kind of is. But, it's the only sane way for a group of people to collaborate on a project that has so many working parts. Like I said, we'll cross that bridge when we get there.
