initial commit for alarm extension #37

Based on the discussion on #27, this should allow for extension to use in the new alarm module.

@mrose17 Do you want to take over this project? Over the last week I've removed all my Ring products and started replacing them with Nest. So I no longer have the ability to test this or the need to actually use it.
