invalid character \textendash produced but not allowed by in mathmode bibtex

I used this doi

10.1063/1.526680

on http://www.doi2bib.org/ to generate a citation. After copy-pasting the citation I get one error:

Package ucs Error: Please activate option 'combine'. [\textbf{R.~Cirelli and A.~Manià}]

and one warning:

LaTeX Warning: Command \textendash invalid in math mode on input line 137.

The former is created by the letter "à" in the name of one of the authors which is converted to the normal "a" and some invalid character in my text editor. To sum up, what doi2bib gives me is http://unicodelookup.com/#a%CC%80/1 what I expect is http://unicodelookup.com/#%C3%A0/1 Maybe some check can be made to convert characters of this type?

Concerning the latter I think it would be fine to just replace it by a normal dash "-". This avoids the warning.
