Manual - UK DAQI and rollingMean #1

Open stevecrawshaw opened 4 years ago

In the openair manual, P. 102 there is a description of the UK DAQI that I believe is incorrect for PM2.5 and PM10. The Defra site states that PM10 and PM2.5 DAQI is a running 24 hr mean but it is described as a fixed daily mean in the manual.

EDIT: I have been advised by the LAQM helpdesk that historic data is fixed daily mean and daily use of DAQI is the rolling mean, so please ignore above.

I think also that the table with the index values is incorrect by an integer, possibly due to the update and rounding.

Also, the documentation for rollingMean() states that the UK DAQI uses a right - align rollingMean(), but this is not reflected in the sample code for the calendarPlot using DAQI metrics on p.103 as the default is "centre".

EDIT similarly ignore below Interestingly, when I run:

dat <- importAURN(site = "BRS8", year = 2018)

 pm25roll <- rollingMean(dat, pollutant = "pm2.5", hours = 24, new.name = "rpm2.5", align = "right")

calendarPlot(pm25roll, year = 2018, pollutant = "rpm2.5", labels = labels,
             breaks = pm10.breaks, statistic = "max", cols = "jet")

It doesn't correspond with the DAQI data on Defra's page See e.g. 2018-01-12 and 2018-03-04 - not shown as moderate on defra's page.

Hi Steve,

Transferring this over to the openair-book repo as the openair manual has been superseded by the openair book. It no longer has the DAQI table in it, but there are examples relating to the DAQI in there so we'll take a look.

Cheers, Jack
