ISD getting replaced by GHCNh #32

Open jack-davison opened 2 months ago

See: https://www.ncei.noaa.gov/news/next-generation-climate-dataset-built-seamless-integration

Please Note: The Integrated Surface Database (ISD) product is actively being replaced by the new Global Historical Climatology Network hourly (GHCNh), and will eventually be deprecated. See NCEI’s press release for more information.

May eventually break {worldmet} so needs keeping an eye on.

GHCNh seems a lot more comprehensive, so moving {worldmet} over can only be a good thing assuming it's still easy to read the data.

Very doable!

Thanks Jack. I see that things are changing, so it will be good to update everything soon. I wasn’t going to do this before the CASANZ course though to keep things simple.

No rush to do it before CASANZ! The new database isn't complete yet anyway
