Hooking into other sites to allow things such as data imports isn't something I'm comfortable doing yet. I may never feel comfortable doing that. There are too many variables to consider that could lead to bad data: differences in the name of the beer, differences in the name of the brewery, etc. What it comes down to is that all of these beer databases are different. It makes it too difficult to accurately import data. I'm not sure how I could make that accurate so, until I figure that out, or until someone points me towards the right direction as to how I can account for the vast numbers of differences in data sets, I'll be closing issues like this. Sorry!
Hey, I know this comment is closed and all but I think it would be cool to build some kind of "bulk" import functionality into the site.
I realize data import/export is difficult but I don't think it would be too hard to import a huge list of beers, search the database for a matching beer, and then let to user make the final "yes/no" say.
Once my workload gets lighter I might look into doing this and then putting a pull request in
Should you want it I can get you a couple examples of the Taco Mac Brewniversity lists in CSV form. Just let me know when you're able to work on the project.
I'm not sure how many of your users are in the Atlanta, Charlotte, or Chattanooga areas but It would be awesome for those of us that are if you could some how integrate the Taco Mac Brewniversity into the site. Especially for those that are in the 300-1000+ range. It would make it much easier to import our lists from Brewniversity rather than try and find every beer we've had individually. For other serious beer markets you may want to look into the UFO Club program through Flying Saucer.
