Proper rendering of Mediawiki language #12

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. open many pages
2.
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Normal display of text as WikiTaxi does. A large part of text is shown in
italic type, e.g searching "Taylor expansion". There exist many redundant
symbols like "]]" in many pages. Additionaly, some symbol in LaTeX formula
can be corrected interpreted, like [\infin?].

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
The latest version on WinXP sp3.

Please provide any additional information below.

Except the template which is handled by WikiTaxi, it would be better for
bzreader to display any page like WikiTaxi. I have to say bzreader is more
attractive than wikitaxi in the sense that it can display LaTeX formula
and requires much less disk space.

Enhancement instead of issue

Hi there,

Well, re-writing the formatter is unfortunately not an easy task (I took the
already
existing from ScrewTurn wiki). There are no other MediaWiki opensource
formatters
which I am aware of.

I don't think I will address this one, I'll left it open just in case anyone
else
might be interested.

Regards.

Hi, regarding the formatter, what about collaborating to WikiTaxi?
Wikitaxi is best in rendering the structure (similar to the online wiki) but
bzreader
is awesome for LaTex rendering and other things.

Hi there, I'll try to contact the author of WikiTaxi, however I am not sure if
he
would share his work with BzReader. I'll post any results here.

Regards.

Hello again,

Unfortunately, the WikiTaxi author has indicated that he is not willing to
share his
implementation of the MediaWiki formatter :-/

On the website
http://users.softlab.ece.ntua.gr/~ttsiod/buildWikipediaOffline.html,
the author described an efficient way using mediawiki code to extract wiki
pages.

Sorry, that is in PHP, which is of no use in .NET/C# world.
