My WhatsApp / Pidgin Purple has stopped to work althought I did not change anything in configuration in last days. I was using the server c2.whatsapp.net with port 443 and Resource Android-2.12.5-443. I tried also with different resources as Android-2.12.176-443 and Android-2.31.151-443. Still not working. I receive the message not-authorized and can not get connected to the server. Each help is highly appreciated. I tried to get new registration with yowsup-cli which is also failing with error: yowsup.common.http.warequest:{"status":"fail","reason":"blocked"}

Anybody any idea? I have requested now the removal of my WhatsApp account via WhatsApp support Team...

robert-scheck commented 8 years ago

Same here (started today at 02:00 UTC), seems to be quite independent of the whatsapp-purple commit/version. Changing the resource does not help.

davidgfnet commented 8 years ago

@robert-scheck It does work well for me (tested this morning) on last commit using the default resource. I'd recommend you to delete your local settings. And maybe, why not, ask for a new pass.

mrkiko commented 8 years ago

Infact, I tried. I tried also using my country's MMC and operator's MNC. The request fails, with reason. "blocked2. I think for me the game is over. What you I do in your opinion? Try to contact them somehow or give up until my account expires (a year) ? No problems - after all, I apreciate using free software when I can, and these are consequences to pay when using services like WA. So my question is more pragmatical in it's intent.

robert-scheck commented 8 years ago

@davidgfnet Asking for a new pass does not work either, just lead to "blocked" now.

mrkiko commented 8 years ago

If you wait a little I'll tell you all what happened to my account :D

mrkiko commented 8 years ago

My account has been blocked - no timer, but they're asking me to contact assistance.

davidgfnet commented 8 years ago

It definetly works for me on HEAD. Can someone throw a bit of light? Is it working for someone appart from me?

mrkiko commented 8 years ago

It works #davidgfnet, there is no doubt. What happens, is that for some reasons WA is able to detect usage or a third-party app. And for them it took years to do so on some cases (e.g.: mine). so the problem isn't on the software side in my opinion / case. It's on the "service" side. This is the thing. they're able to detect us in various ways in my opinion. Apart from the fact that on their land they control anything, there are various means they can check if something is wrong. And, as you and other suggested, this happens from time to time. so, nothing wrong with whatsapp-purple. In my opinion.

mrkiko commented 8 years ago

And, most importantly: sincerely thank you for your effort and work. You helped me preciously.

reyzavk commented 8 years ago

same thing for me. the chronology:

  1. got an error of "Server closed the connection", with resource S 40-2.12.11-443
  2. I changed the resource back to Android-2.31.151-443
  3. Whatsapp was working fine
  4. The following day my account blocked
marga-personal commented 8 years ago

If your account is blocked, you have to send them a message with a screenshot of the smartphone version (i.e. the official version), telling them that you want your account unblocked. It takes a while, but it worked for me. In my case, it always detected the app when I suspended my computer leaving it connected to whatsapp. I have to always remember to disconnect before suspending so that this doesn't happen.

mrkiko commented 8 years ago

I've gone trough this process infact. Doesn't this feel like ... oppression?

wsabillon commented 8 years ago

I'm in the same boat as amylisa!!! I'm using the .deb prebuild binary ver 0.86 And I just joined github to say thanks to davidgfnet for his great job, it's greatly appreciated.

mrkiko commented 8 years ago

I was able to re-join the WA network after following the somewhat-usual route. They made me feel like I committed a crime, but actually I think they're simply evil. Now I am connected to the network from my smartphone. And I was "lucky" in some sense: now I have the "for life" plan, not the usual one. Go @davidgfnet - don't stop. And thank you community for your support and help. don't stop. Hoping some day they'll open up their eyes, or something changes. At least, this is my opinion.

marga-personal commented 8 years ago

This has happened to me now after about three days of using HEAD and the latest resource. It had been working correctly for about 2 months. This time I had correctly logged out and not suspended the computer, so I guess it was something different that caused the ban.

mrkiko commented 8 years ago

Hope you can regain access to your account...

Docbroke commented 8 years ago

Exactly same as with others

  1. got an error of "Server closed the connection", with resource S 40-2.12.11-443
  2. I changed the resource back to Android-2.31.151-443
  3. Whatsapp was working fine
  4. The following day my account blocked
davidgfnet commented 8 years ago

Hey guys. As I said before, if you change resource you should ask for a new password. Otherwise looks suspicious. And for god's sake, use the default Android resource, which is 2.12.419 or higher, 2.31 is not an android resource!

axel21a commented 8 years ago

I also find myself in the same situation, they were blocked. I'm using 0.9.0 @mrkiko how did you do to reactivate?

mrkiko commented 8 years ago

The only way I found was to contact WhatsApp support team. They asked me a screenshot of my phone running whatsapp to unblock my account . I am sorry. I think I should have been more careful. Let me know how it goes. Hoping the best for you. Hoping in success .
