Would it be possible to rename BUILD to something that does not overlap with build/ to be able to clone on mac?

I would suggest, rather, using a directory in /Volumes/Case Sensitive --- in fact, I'm surprised that Homebrew (or whichever package manager you're using) isn't hassling you about it already...
