Hello!
Sadly, the CY8CKIT-059 seems to be out of stock everywhere and I suspect that Cypress have end-of-lifed it. Mouser claims to have some arriving in June, but they may not show up.
The issue with the GreaseWeazle and hard-sectored disks is in the firmware, and not anything I can do about. There needs to be support in the bytestream for opcodes which causes the drive to wait for the next hole to go past before continuing. It would be possible to do writes by ignoring the holes completely and writing out the hard sectors based on timing only, but it would still need to detect the actual index hole before starting the write to get the alignment correct which needs firmware support.
Hello David,
I have find a Cypress kit. My Cypress kit is ready, but i have a little problem. I work on Windows. I see on the peripheral manager the FluxEngine but without driver (With ! icon). If i use the FluxEngine GUI, i obtain a message "Error: no devices found (is one plugged in? Do you ave the appropriate permissions?". The GUI is in administrator mode started and correctly connected.
Can you help me ?
Thanks, Laurent
Which version of the firmware and client are you using? If you downloaded a release rather than checking out github and building things yourself, the one you want is the development build, not the old Windows release under it (I need to remove those as they're confusing and obsolete).
I use the the development version, on the PC and on the FluxEngine. Windows see the FluxEngine, but has no drivers. The problem is on the GUI and on the command line. On the GUI, the Device menu has no entry.
Hello,
In the VCF on Zürich we have tolked about the Smaky disk. You are say to me to you are interrested to work to create image file from the Smaky Hard-sectored disk.
If you are always interrested, i have today 6 disk for Smaky 6. My problem is the Fluxengine hardware. I don't find the devloppment board for building. I have a Greaseweasel V4, but your software does not support hard-sectored writing with this. If you have a CY8CKIT-059 card to sell, i can buy it. The problem is how to test the image when i can not write this on a real floppy disk ? It is planned to support writing hard-sectored floppy disk with the Greaseweasel ?
The Smaky 6 use a Micropolis format. You support the Micropolis format, i will test with my Greaseweasel, but Fluxengine does not reconize the Greaseweasel. I want to search the problem later. Curiously, i dont can use the "usb.greaseweazle.port", this flag is not recognized, and the Greaseweasel is correctly intalled on Windows.
Best regards, Laurent
