IMHO, this is actually a pretty good generic idea for a future release, that is, to tweak the language so it is clear that it is the donor, not the org, who determines what is deductible.

Specifically, the auction manager is concerned about the term "Deductible Amount," since we usually leave it for the donor's financial advisor to determine the actual deductible amount. Our manager says:
"I’m concerned about listing things as a 'deductible amount'… I would feel most comfortable showing the bid amount/amount paid and the Fair Market Value. This would be a change in the formula used to populate amounts in that column. Another option would be to have the column read 'Amount of Contribution less the FMV' – which wouldn’t change the formula used at all. The explanation in paragraph two should be enough for any donor to determine their charitable gift (if any) on their own or with their tax professional."
