Dissertation Interim Report

An Interim Report is due at the end of Semester 2. You should view this interim report as an early draft of your final dissertation and take the opportunity to present your work in progress and receive feedback.

The following is an outline of what this Interim Report should contain.

• 1. Review of your dissertation proposal in light of feedback you have received and your ongoing research. This should entail revisiting your research question and your overall approach.
• 2. A detailed literature review examining the state of the art in your research domain. This section must include a conclusions section summarising where your work sits in the overall area. The literature review should be in the context of your own dissertation rather than a general survey of the area.
• 3. If your dissertation requires significant data analysis, it would be expected that you have some data gathering completed and, if relevant, finalised survey/interview design based on a pilot study.
• 4. If your dissertation involves prototype development or simulation, it would be expected that you have an initial demonstration of this.
• 5. A revised plan of action and methodology. This should not just be a Gantt chart/project plan but also include a description of how you intend to approach your remaining dissertation work.
