Do you think it’d be easy to implement furigana for the kanji which appears in example sentences?

No, because kanji have different readings. You'd have to go over all the sentences manually and store them...

Closing because I agree with the above comment, it's not going to be easy to implement - would be great if Wanikani themselves could implement this though
