Originally I was going to have a slimmed down menu with a search and menu icon (hamburger menu), however after thinking about it, I have decided that having a top fixed menu that hides when you scroll down and re-appears as you scroll up would be a better idea.
This is commonly done on Iphone apps and is a great way to save space. Since my main navigation really wont have that many options, Instead of having the hamburger menu, I am going to have icons with words to the important pages of my website.
According to many articles out there on UX Design, This is a better concept in terms of presentation and User Usability Tests. According to the article "Kill the Hamburger" by Josh Constine, He sites that many A/B tests have shown this to be more favorable in terms of engagement.
