write code to read cluster tables and match to APOGEE table #32

Note: clusters members are not those with cluster names in FIELD - those are all candidates and only a subset of those stars will belong to the clusters. The table I sent you (the calibration set for the first paper) is comprised of the identified DR10 members. There are slightly more members in DR12. I have emailed J. Holtzman for the most up to date list of identified members (alternatively we could identify ourselves from [Fe/H] and Vh only).

From J. Holtzman, here is the most up to date list w. documentation: https://data.sdss.org/sas/apogeework/apogee/spectro/redux/r6/stars/cal/clust.fits https://data.sdss.org/sas/apogeework/apogee/spectro/redux/r6/stars/cal/clust.html

Awesome! Thank you.

Does this include open clusters as well as globular clusters?

mkness commented 8 years ago

Yes.

I just spilled coffee all over my (new) shirt and laptop to say: anyone crazy enough to do membership for clusters must care about that crap, and therefore must have done a good job.

Awesome. One more question: Do we believe the APOGEE membership, and who did it?
