I think a great test would be to compare the dust mass surface density to an extinction map from either Julianne or Karl's Av mapping. Those should be able to get almost comparable resolution to the 100 micron, I think.
The comparison as a function of dust temperature would be a key test. If there are systematic differences in the dust mass surface density you recover vs Av as a function of dust temperature, that might point out issues with the technique. Av should have no dependence on dust temperature since it is measured from extinction of background stars.
