What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. created a bootable linux on the AppleTV and attempting to install
Gentoo. Following these instructions:
http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/Installing_MythFrontend_on_Apple_TV_using_G
entoo
2. mount -o bind /dev /mnt/gentoo/dev

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expected output is the directory /dev is mounted @ /mnt/gentoo/dev
Instead I receive the error:
mount: mounting /dev on /mnt/gentoo/dev failed: Invalid argument

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
recovery-0.6.tar.gz
Busybox 1.9.1

Please provide any additional information below.
I think the problem resides with busybox, but I'm not sure.
I've also seen it reported here.

I can't help much, ubuntu here, others have done the gentoo guides. Post a
message to the discussion group
about this and maybe a gentoo user will comment.
