unmount: cannot unmount /mnt/rootfs: invalid argument #16

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Download atv-win-1.0.b11.zip
2. Extract with 7-zip on Vista HP 32 bit
3. Run mk-atv-xbmc-ssh from the command prompt
2. load the img file onto the flash drive using USB image tool
3. Insert the flash drive into the aTV and boot it.
4. The script runs until I get this error message

init started: BusyBox v1.9.1 (2008-05-09 20:39:14EDT)
atv-boot=patchstick -- searching for patchstick.sh
unmount: can not unmount /mnt/rootfs: invalid argument
atv-boot=patchstick -- starting telnetd

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I expect the script to complete. Instead it stops and asks for the
penbuntu password

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
atv-win-1.0.b11.zip
Going on a aTV 2.2
I've used 3 different flash drives

Please provide any additional information below.

sounds like a USB flash drive problem. You might use the HP tool mentioned in
the readme.txt to make the USB
drive bootable, then try atv-win again. The HP tool will alter the USB flash
drive geometry for booting. This
geometry is compatible with atv-win.

I'll quote the very first paragraph

"These batch file can be used to create AppleTV patchstick disk images.
The minimum USB flash drive supported is 256MB. USB flash drives can
be restored back to full size using the HP USB Disk Storage Format
Tool from here -> http://files.extremeoverclocking.com/file.php?f=197"

"unmount: can not unmount /mnt/rootfs: invalid argument" typically points to a
USB flash drive problem. No
much I can say. Some work, some don't. It all depends on the flash drive
geometry and how it was setup at the
factory.

I solved this problem a few hours after I posted this but couldn't find my post
so I never gave the answer.

I was running USB image tool in vista. I asuned because I was in the device tab
that I was in device mode
which wasn't true. There is a drop down menu above the drive icons that is
defaulted to volume mode. You
need to switch that to device mode. In vista that menu was deactivated so I
couldn't change it. I switched to
xp and it worked perfectly.

"In vista that menu was deactivated so I couldn't change it.", need to right
click on the app and run as administrator. Also in the readme.txt.

Yeah, I'm an idiot. I remember reading it needing to be run as administrator
and I
just assumed that meant as the admin user in windows. Looks like I made several
stupid assumptions and need to RTFM. Anyways, I hope this helped medina2027.
Also
sdavilla, great job on this and XBMC. Everyone I know is having me make them
one.

@Comment 7:

Agreed, this also resolved the same issue for me. USB image tool needed to be
in
"Device Mode".

Also, I ended up using a PNY mini attache 2GB, which worked just fine.
