Add to download page from Launcher itself #43

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

-Instead of having to ssh into the Apple TV and add code to the Launcher
file to activate downloads in the download area, allow all downloads to be
activated or already available within Launcher itself.

Hi shadowguy,

do you have concrete examples?
XBMC nightlies e.g. isn't added by default, as it requires ssh access to
troubleshoot those builds, same for
CrystalHD enabler (which will be included shortly, as it seem reasonably stable)

When in Launcher I feel it would be beneficial to have a section either in
Downloads
or Settings which you can enable other downloads such as Nightlies, ChrystalHD,
or
even the Autoloader to appear in the downloads section, bypassing the need to
SSH
into the Launcher files and add code as I find quite a lot of people unsure or
unaware how to manually add a download or that some even exist.

Sorry to say, but those are all examples where we explicitly don't want users
without knowing ssh to muck
around with.
To be more specific:

Nightlies: They might mess up userdata/don't start/etc.. It's essential to have
a user know ssh to get useful
feedback.

CrystalHD: Had to be manually enabled while in testing phase (where it's
essential that users know
ssh/command line). Will be included either in XBMC download or as a separate
download shortly.

Autoloader: If you mean the 'boot into XBMC' feature. Unfortunately this seems
to be too fragile to have users
(that can't ssh into the box) play with it.
---
Everything that is in stock Launcher right know, does work quite well. There's
nothing that can easily mess up
the system. Once we add the possibility to easily add untested or
not-that-stable stuff, it will get used and
users can't recover without ssh'ing into the box.

I'd say we leave it as is. "Advanced" users can get more/most recent stuff out
of it, others stay with the well
tested.
