Cannot enable Port-1. Maybe USB Cable bad? #419

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Running Win patchstick on Apple TV with various USB sticks

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
The ATVWin does not finish loading and does not install. After restart aTV
comes back to factory settings.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
I tried various versions of the ATV patch on various brands of USB sticks
and with all available aTV firmware - all produce the same error.

Please provide any additional information below.

Memmorex, SanDisk, PNY all work fine. I have tried from 512Mb to 2GB and all
are OK.

I assume you have upgraded your aTV to 3.0 or 3.01. Do you have SSH installed?
What
was the last msg on the aTV after the patchstick finished?

Thank you for the response. I have tried all recommended USB sticks - all
produce the
same result.
I do not have the SSH installed and I attach few screenshots of the installation
progress.

FW version attempting to patchstick?
What version of atv are you using and is it win/mac?

Need to know these two things to get you on the right track.

Have you ever patchsticked your atv successfully before? This eliminates
possibility
of faulty aTV unit.

Thanks a lot again.

I have tried all available to me ATVWin versions, including the commercial one.
None
worked.

I even took the Apple TV to the Apple store, and, after a lot of questions, why
do I
use the USB port, they finally checked it and they were able to get to install
some
type of a software onto the Apple TV, but not completely. Basically told me
that the
USB port is OK as it started to communicate with their external disk drive. I
cannot
believe it, but that was the best I could negotiate with Apple....

What do I do? Replacement of the USB port is $170 with Apple vs. $220 for the
new
Apple TV...
