Issues identified with ATV 3.0.2 #478

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Updated ATV to 3.0.2 (accidentally!)
2. Patched using atvusb-creator-1.0b10
3. ssh in and manually update SoftwareMenu to 1.0b1

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

Expected to see nitoTV available to install and was not
Expected to be able to downgrade to ATV 3.0.1 but got an error due to MD5 issue
with Perian-
1.1.3.dmg

Haven't looked at 3.02 yet, maybe some third party apps have broke. Doubt it,
but
unsure at this time.

Hi, I have the same issue.

The only plugin that shows in Software menu is:
ATVFiles - 1.2.11
CouchSurfer - 0.6
Emulators - 2.1

I also tried to downgrade whit same results.

What I've tested so far was working:
- update to 3.0.2
- use (ancient) patchstick to get ssh
- download and install Launcher 3.2.2
- install nightly build
- start XBMC

Thanks for testing Launcher out Stephan. If you are having issue with nitoTV,
tried
installing the latest version? It's been updated so the mach_kernel patch for
usb is
up to date.

I've done the following:
- Update to 3.0.2
- Create patchstick the normal method, by downloading the AppleTV image and
using 'Choose DMG'
- Then SSH in, and wget
http://atv-xbmc-launcher.googlecode.com/files/Launcher-3.2.1-debug.run, chmod
+x on it, and then run it.
- Went to Launcher -> Downloads and installed Launcher 3.2.2.
- Installed XBMC

Everything works.

This had already been established. We are distributing Launcher 3.22 in
atv-win; so
no need to downgrade then upgrade Launcher (unless that is you used a Mac)

I'm I missunderstanding something here? Isn´t this issue about the
softwaremenu.frappliance?
What i know there is no problmes whit the launcher what so ever, I might be
wrong
for some users.

That's if there *is* an issue with Software Menu and 3.0.2. Try use the latest
1.0b1
you should be fine. There is no problem with Launcher, the developer Stephan
Diederich actually confirms this (post 3)

I'm using 1.0b1 and when i enter 3rd Party Plugins the only plugins that shows
up is
ATVFiles - 1.2.11
CouchSurfer - 0.6
Emulators - 2.1

When i installed Launcher and Atvfiles 1.3.0beta manually they showed up in the
trusted list.
I´v also installed nitotv manually but that one dosent show up at all. So
somthing
has to be wrong at least for me...

Hey,

You're talking about a third party frapp here. I can't help because I don't
develop
with it. My presumption however is that Software Menu has minimum and maximum
firmware requirements for all plugins it installs and that NitoTV is not
eligible
for installation on your AppleTV (perhaps it has not been updated through
Software
Menu yet).

All I can recommend is you talk to to the developer, Tom Cool on IRC. He hangs
out
on moofspeak.

I just bought an Apple TV with 3.0.2 version of firmware. I have been unlucky in
getting the boxee to work.

I have a mac and Kingston 1GB drive. I downloaded the latest version of .Dmg
file and
created the patchstick. It works fine

When I stick it into Apple TV and re-start nothing happens. I see the usual
menu of
Apple TV. So frustrating. I also tried PC with device mode usb creator. Same
bad luck :(

Please help. I am novice here.

Hold Menu and - keys for 6 seconds when booting aTV. You will force search of
mass
storage devices for GPT boot partition.

using 3.0.2, patchstick b13, power down, stick it in, hold down menu and - key
on remote on boot

.... lots of unpredictable screen flashes, then...
I get the recovery menu.
Any ideas? don't want to brick it here, it's not mine :-/

I'm in the same boat as Tazman, firmware 3.0.2 on ATV and patchstick b13 that i
downloaded today and put on a 2gb travelstar drive. No issues with creating the
file with atvusb-creator. Is there a visual timing step we are missing with the
remote and when the atv is booting or should we immediately see a Tux / Linux
icon?
