Patchstick contents don't match, and subsequent ATV crash #499

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. D/L atvusb-creator-1.0.b13
2. form patchstick on 4GB PNY stick
3. d/l onto ATV normal, but when softwaremenu is updated, system goes black
4. only access back into atv, except for opening sequence, is through factory
reset

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Initial expected outcome was a stick content to match what is provided on your
page.

for the stick, under packages I get openssh instead of dropbear, and for
plugins I get a
softwaremenu pkg instead of boxee. The apple atv update loaded was
2z694-6013-013.dmg
I've repeated this on a couple of sticks, and d/l the app a couple of times.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
1.0.b13 on a MBP early 2009 (2.93GHz Intel Core Duo 2/320GB/8GB), PNY 4GB USB
flashdrive

Please provide any additional information below.

Firstly,

Dropbear was dropped. Excuse the pun - but OpenSSH offers much better
performance.
Software Menu is a third party application for managing what's installed on the
aTV
Boxee and XBMC are managed from XBMCLauncher

The picture is out of date.

You need to provide more information, such as:

What are you updating in Software Menu? The program itself?
Logs please?
Firmware version? (3.x right?)
You're not installing atvfiles are you?

I updated Launcher first and got XBMC, but no mention of Boxee. I then began to
check some of the other add-
ons, but didn't test between each upgrade. I'll try this again either tonight
or tomorrow . Firmware is 3.latest
(3.0.2?). As for atvfiles, I didn't start playing with these yet. My experience
with ssh is minimal, so I have a bit of
a learning curve to deal with (and getting the kids off the main tv so I can
play with the ATV.
