Error Installing SoftwareMenu_Update1 #505

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Attempt to install SoftwareMenu_Update1 via 3rd Party Plugins menu.
2. Process downloads new install, performs installation process and informs
user to 'select menu when ready.'
3. When selecting menu to come out of 'SoftwareMenu_Update1' screen, the
message 'An error has occurred. Please press Play/Pause to restart Apple TV.'

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expected output is update of SoftwareMenu to 1.0b2. After error is
produced as described above and restart is performed, the 'Software Menu'
is no longer available in ATV interface.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Recently purchased Apple TV running atvusb-creator-1.0.b13 with ATV SW
version 3.0.1.

Please provide any additional information below.

When initially after coming out of installation script screen, the menu
lists the 1.0b2 version of SoftwareMenu_Update1 with the option of
installing, but any attempt to do so just performs the same process along
with a permissions fix. When backing out of update using 'menu', same
error is encountered.

I have attempted a manual installation of the SoftwareMenu.Frappliance
folder using SSH utilities such as Cyberduck and Fugu to copy the latest
version to the 'System\Library\CoreServices\Finder.app\Contents\Plugins'
location, however due to permission issues, I was unable to update. I've
also scoured the issues for any similar run-ins, but to no avail. Any
suggestions are welcome. Thanks much.

If you want to manually update, you will need to be elevated, run sudo and try
your
cp again.

If you want to speak to the actual dev of SoftwareMenu about this, speak to Tom
Cool
and perhaps raise an issue on his project page
http://code.google.com/p/iscripts/issues/list

This is not an atvusb issue though - so I will set this to Invalid.

Good luck.
